LettingThingsTouch
a three-day class hosting improvisational situations where learning dancing as a technical tool is not void of the very performativity which often abandons its strict conditions. Our identities and particularities are not separate from our embodied knowledge. Together, we will move toward a precision of movement research via daily prompts and smaller exercises where the frame of dance invites betrayal, deceit and mischief accompanying the more familiar truth, freedom and vulnerability associated with the form. We will betray dance as a methodological distance only to acknowledge the romance of longing, embrace the uncanny as a revelation and allow content into the training to detail orientation rather than destiny.
The workshop is designed to be attended over three days, but it is possible to attend just one day.
Biographie
Jen Rosenblit (1983, États-Unis) crée des performances depuis Berlin, après avoir passé de nombreuses années à New York. Son travail s’articule autour de l’architecture, du corps, du texte et d’idées liées aux problèmes qui surgissent au cœur des projets de vie en communauté. Les œuvres de Rosenblit tendent vers l’étrange, cherchant des façons d’être ensemble au milieu de contradictions (in)familières et impossibles. Le désir et la sexualité apparaissent comme des points de départ récurrents, sans pour autant imposer une esthétique ou une représentation unique. Rosenblit est boursière Guggenheim 2018, lauréate du prix « Bessie » 2014 de la New York Dance and Performance Association, artiste en résidence à La Becque (Vevey, Suisse) en 2023, et a collaboré avec des artistes tels que Simone Aughterlony, Miguel Gutierrez, A.K. Burns et Philipp Gehmacher.
